BIOGRAPHY OF ANN MOURA:
Ann Moura was born in 1947 and raised in an oral Craft tradition of at least three generations. With the passing of her mother in 1993, Ann decided to put her Green Witch heritage into writing to preserve it and open it to others. Her mother was Brazilian with a Celtic-Iberian background, while her father was a naturalist of English and German heritage, bringing a wide range of outdoor experience into her life.
Ann grew up with folk magic, spells, and Craft concepts as part of her daily life, including a practical set of Rules of Conduct, spirit communication, divination, and magical workings using herbs, candles, oils, stones, items from Nature, the Elementals, and “The Power.” While the family deities are Bendis and Shiva, and her Craft Name, Aoumiel, expresses the Oneness of God and Goddess, Ann has also connected with other deities, including Uma Parvati, Diana, Epona, Cerridwen, Freya, Sekhmet, Bast, Luna, Cernunnos, Freyr, and Dis.
Ann recounts a number of personal anecdotes in her books Green Witchcraft: Folk Magic, Fairy Lore, & Herb Craft, Green Witchcraft II: Balancing Light & Shadow, Green Witchcraft III: The Manual, Green Magic, Grimoire for the Green Witch: A Complete Book of Shadows, and Tarot for the Green Witch, published by Llewellyn Worldwide. In Ann Moura’s New History of Witchcraft (7th House Publishing), she explores the roots of the Old Religion.
Married, with two grown children, Ann’s interests include a variety of arts and crafts. She holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in History, and teaches Witchcraft classes locally. She has lived in many regions of the United States and traveled extensively throughout the U.S.A., as well as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and Europe.
